Organized and Productive Living

31 Days of Organization: Progress Not Perfection

Progress Not Perfection

We’re all looking for the perfect system to organize our stuff. The one solution that will solve all our problems and lead us down the path to homemaker happiness.

Want to know the secret? There isn’t one.

No single method or storage system or “guaranteed solution” is going to work for everyone, or even the vast majority.

We are all individuals with our own unique needs. Sure, there will be overlap and commonalities, but what works for me may not work for you in exactly the same way, and that’s okay. You may have to adapt my ideas to suit your own needs and that’s great. Or you may read something I write and think, “That would never work here”, and that’s okay too.

The important thing is that you keep your mind open to different possibilities and keep moving forward. Know that each step you take is moving you towards your end goal, and that there may be stumbling blocks along the way. You may organize the same room or area two, three, or even six times before you decide it’s “good enough”, and that’s all part of the process. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither are our homes. Keep moving forward and remember that the process is just as important as the end result. So long as you are making progress, you are winning the game.
